Medium Build, aka Nick Carpenter, is an indie folk musician based in Anchorage, Alaska. His latest release, 'Never Learned to Dance' is a raw, emotional commentary on our human condition.

The chorus lyrics are heartbreakingly relatable: 'there has to be better shit to give a shit about, than wondering what people think about me now.' The lines directly discuss how often we base our self judgment off other people's opinions, rather than looking inward at what we ourselves want.

Check out the live version to hear the emotive nature of the chorus:

The production takes a folk-pop stance, with shimmery guitars and soft drums, allowing Medium Build's powerful vocal to belt the painful lyrics.

This is easily my favourite tune at the moment, with its meaningful content and lush production. The song has made me rethink what I truly care about, allowing me to start 2023 with a fresh perspective.
